Diary Data (2026-02-27_pokemon_day.txt)
Hey. iDestyKK here. Back-to-back diary entries. A day we've been waiting forLast night, I was chatting with my Bestie and we decided to watch the Pokémon Presents together when it broadcasts today on YouTube. Timezone difference isn't even a problem here. It is broadcasted worldwide all at the same time. So that was perfect for us. For convenience, here are the links to the Pokémon Presents videos, both in English and Japanese: WatchingMy Bestie and I hopped on a Discord call 3 minutes before the presentation started and we got to watching. I didn't really have any predictions on what was going to show up. Though some Pokémon HOME information would have been nice. Also maybe some raids for Scarlet/Violet? I don't know. Keep the expectations low. Gen X reveal was pretty much guaranteed though. As we watched the presents together, I saw some Pokémon GO information, as well as Pokémon HOME information for FireRed/LeafGreen. I thought it was interesting that the diagram was ambiguous about the fact Pokémon from Z-A can't be moved to earlier games. But maybe the diagram was overly simplified to be easier to read. Pokémon moving from FireRed/LeafGreen into HOME directly and being one-way made sense to me. But then came the announcement of Pokémon Winds and Waves. The hype was real, even though it was announced to come in 2027. I was fine with that. The game has more time in the oven to cook. I'm personally one of those people who thought Scarlet/Violet were wonderful games even at launch. Unpopular opinion. I know. But I only say that because I just have a low expectation of games these days. So I can't really be disappointed. And in this case, the scenery we were shown in the reveal trailer looked quite promising! I wasn't even expecting a starter reveal but we got that too. Lastly, the Japanese logos look sick, in my opinion.
And just like that, the broadcast ended. But the excitement was there and it's time to play some Pokémon. A shiny challenge!?To celebrate the reveal of Pokémon Winds and Waves, I decided to shiny hunt some water Pokémon. Here those are. Part 1 - Finneon and LumineonThe first challenge of the series was Finneon/Lumineon. We saw Lumineon in the reveal trailer. So, it was only fitting to get a shiny. I wanted to complete the evolution line though so that means getting 2 shinies. 4 if you consider gender differences. For now, I'll settle with 2. So I booted up Pokémon Ultra Moon and went to hatching eggs. That resulted in the following 2 Pokémon:
The first one took 301 eggs. The second one took 434 eggs. I put these two in the Pokémon Shrine. Part 2 - Paldean Tauros (Aqua Breed)This one was a dare from my Bestie because she believed it was going to be difficult. The first step of the grind was to catch a Paldean Tauros and then breed it up to 6 IV. After that, then the real shiny hunt begins. Finding the aqua version without sandwiches was a pain. However, I managed to score one after about 20 minutes of gameplay. After that, I bred it with a 6 IV Ditto and everything was good to go. I didn't keep track of how many eggs it took to get a 6 IV. But whatever.
The shiny took only 68 eggs. I got really lucky today! ConclusionToday was a fun day. Lots of shinies. My shiny luck remains really good. I hope that everyone else enjoyed their Pokémon Day 2026. I was not disappointed at all by what I saw. |
